

Mary Jane (Thompson) Dick was born on December 9, 1925 in Oxford, Pennsylvania, she died at 1:00 AM on Wednesday, December 28, 2016. She was the daughter of John and Anna McNeal Thompson. She grew up in Elizabethtown, PA, along with her parents and her brother John. They were active members of Mount Calvary Church of Elizabethtown.
She graduated from Columbia Bible College in Columbia, South Carolina, and became a nurse after her studies at the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia.
After completing her studies, Mary Jane Thompson joined the China Inland Mission (now the Overseas Missionary Fellowship) as a missionary. She was sent to the Philippine Islands to bring the Gospel to the people on the island of Mindoro. A few years later she was joined there by her brother’s family-John and Juanita Thompson and their son John.
On May 5, 1966 she married another OMF missionary, William Dick, of England (now deceased). After serving several more years in the Philippines, she and Bill returned to England, and settled in Birkenhead, near the city of Liverpool. She was divorced in 1992, and returned to her hometown of Elizabethtown, PA. From 2007 to 2014 she lived at Bridge Street Commons in Waynesburg. She was living at the Waynesburg Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Waynesburg at the time of her death.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Waynesburg.
Her only brother, John Thompson, is deceased. She is survived by her nephew, John Thompson, of Waynesburg, and his children Catherine, Roberto, and Luis.
