He was born October 24, 1937, in Cameron, W.Va., a son of the late Alva and Luella Hupp Caldwell.
He was a 1956 graduate of Waynesburg High School and attended East Stroudsburg University.
On September 8, 1957, he married Judy Stoner Caldwell, who survives.
Richard was a retired project manager of C.J. Langenfelder.
He resided in Phoenix, Ariz., for several years. He returned to live in the Waynesburg area eight years ago.
Richard was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Monongahela. He was also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Syria Temple of the Shrine.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Judy, are five children, Sherry Rosado (Tony) of Waynesburg, Kerry Goodwin (Anthony) of Gilbert, Ariz.,, Richard S. Caldwell (Veronica) of Cedar Park, Texas, Steven Q. Caldwell (Kim) of San Antonio, Texas, and Keven Caldwell (Amy) of Blanco, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Caldwell (Yamille) of Miami, FL; and a sister, Alane Dey of North Port, FL.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Q. Caldwell.
Family and friends will gather for a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church of Waynesburg, 112 North Richhill St., Waynesburg with Rev. David S. Lake officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org . Those wishing to send flowers are asked to choose a live plant instead of cut flowers.
