Shirley J. Neilson, 78, of Waynesburg, PA passed away at 5:03 AM on Sunday, June 11, 2023 in Assisted Living at Evergreen in Waynesburg, PA. Shirley was born January 18, 1945 in Canonsburg, PA, a daughter of the late James Cassidy and Violet Ruska Cassidy. She earned her associates degree from California University. She worked as a receptionist for Dr. Merzi and Falconi Enterprises, both of Washington, PA. Shirley really enjoyed cooking, shopping, playing cards and Yahtzee, as well as working on stained glass projects. Her Husband: Robert W. Neilson, whom she married on July 30, 1973 died June 23, 2020. Surviving are 1 Daughter: Michelle (Terry) King of Waynesburg, PA and 1 Son: Howard (Fern) Neilson of Pittston, Maine, 7 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Brothers: Dennis Cassidy and Timothy Cassidy and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is 1 Sister: Patty Chadwick and 3 Brothers: Tom, Jim and Johnny Cassidy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 16, 2023 at the Woodruff Memorial Park Mausoleum 2095 Washington Rd. Canonsburg, PA 15317 with Rev. Jeff Marton officiating.
