

He was born June 14, 1924 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Earl C. Hardisty and Mabel Grace Buck Hardisty.
He was a 1950 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where he was a three year letterman in baseball and football, and led the nation in punting.
On September 24, 1949 he married Mary Lou Martin Hardisty, who died October 17, 2010.
Mr. Hardisty retired from Waynesburg University where he was the head baseball coach, assistant athletic director, and assistant football coach.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre with the U.S. Navy as a Pharmacist’s Mate.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Waynesburg and the Waynesburg Elks Lodge. He enjoyed watching a variety of sports and was an avid golfer.
Surviving are a daughter Ann Bartko (Edward) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; a son, John W. Hardisty (Fran) of Waynesburg; three granddaughters, Jessica Mello, Rachael Kelley, and Emily DiMascio; two great-grandchildren, Reese Elizabeth Mello and Cameron Michael DiMascio; and one sister, Beatrice Ballard of Linesville.
Deceased are a brother Richard Earl Hardisty; and a sister, Velma Rose Kuehn.
Friends will be received 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm Monday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High St., Waynesburg where services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2016 with Rev. William Sukolsky officiating followed by interment in Greene County Memorial Park with graveside military honors by American Legion Post 330.
