Albert "Red" William Arrington Jr.

Albert "Red" William Arrington Jr., age 81, of Waynesville, NC passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024. Red was born in Haywood County on November 15, 1942 to the late Albert William Arrington, Sr. and Bonnie Esther Robinson Randall.

Red worked many years at Unagusta, Dayco, and retired from the Haywood County School System. He was a former Fire Chief in Hazelwood and was also a Alderman for Hazelwood. He was also a Deacon and Longtime member of Rocky Branch Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by grandson, Ben Patterson; two brothers, Don Arrington and Billy Kinsland; and sister, Betty Jean Price.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 62 years, Estella Whitner Arrington; children, Donna (Roger) Patterson, Vivian (John) Bumgarner, William Arrington (Melissa McMahan), Timothy (Tammey) Arrington, and Melissa (Joe) Golden; siblings, Carroll "Bud" Arrington, Shirley Cogburn, Joseph Parker, Dillard Robinson, Isabell Bradley, Judy Stiles, Mary Littrell, and Linda Sorrells; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services for Red will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at Garrett Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Monday evening September 16, 2024 from 6 to 8 PM at Garrett Funeral Home.

Burial will be held at Plott Cemetery

At other times the family will be at the home of Estella Arrington.
