I taught with Anne at Junaluska for several years. I loved talking with her, often after school as she always worked late. She was a truly dedicated teacher that loved the children and always worked hard so that everyone understood. I taught music and she was always supportive of my endeavors. This was particularly important during my early years of teaching. I loved her so. Junaluska was a special place, made even more so by teachers like Anne.  I only found out today that she had passed and I hope some of the family will see my post. She was a wonderful woman! Anne was a faithful member of Haywood Country Retired School Personnel.  She was very supportive and a bright spot in our membership.
My personal connection was with my children when they attended Junaluska Elementary School.
Personally and Professionally, she was a wonderful woman.

Mamaw Anne was a very special lady. Before I was even adopted by my mother Blandy, she considered me as part of the parrish family. She always had a special way of always bringing a smile to my face when i was sad. She also taught me to be respectful. Everyday i remind myself of the things Mamaw has taught me, such as self discipline, respect and hard work. I wouldn’t be who i am today if it wasn’t for her. I encourage everyone to partake in an activity or two that reminds us of Mamaw. Whether that be listening to classical music, watching the birds, or maybe even going on a walk. And let’s all honor Mamaw memory by always remembering to be kind and generous to others, just as she was so many times for all of us.

Memories of Mrs. Anne Parrish, where could I begin? Anne was one smart lady!  She taught me so much after I began teaching relating to many areas, but especially in the area of grammar.  She was a person who always went the extra mile to better her knowledge about many topics.  Anne guided me in various areas of my teaching career at Junaluska Elementary, and the reasons why I needed to participate in NCAE (North Carolina Association of Educators).  When she became real serious about something she ALWAYS looked out over the top of her glasses.  She was always at school by 6:00 am and often times didn't leave before 5 pm.  Dedicated and professional was what she was  throughout her teaching career.  Her desk may have been in disarray most days, but she knew the location of everything.  Even after her retirement, she came back and volunteered at Junaluska Elementary.   Anne Woodard Parrish was truly a lady, and a very special lady to me.  I hope her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren follow in her footsteps, and lead others with the wonderful and noble examples that Mrs. Parrish did all her life.

Mrs. Parrish was one of the best teachers I ever had. She was absolutely dedicated to excellence in her practice and cared deeply about each of her students. I myself  went on to become an educator and have always looked to her as a role model and inspiration. 

Anne was one of the sweetest women on the face of the earth, and I counted her as a dear friend for many years.  I don't think I would have made it during my years as  president of the Haywood County Association of Educators if not for my two Annes.  And I always looked forward to seeing her in the years after.  Rest well, my sweet fiiend!
