

Dewey Edward Gaddis, 79 of Waynesville, NC passed away on March 15, 2015. He was born in Haywood County, NC on December 17, 1935. He is preceded in death by his birth parents, Samuel and Lorena Gaddis, his adoptive parents, Millard and Allie Gaddis, his wife, Shirley Young Gaddis, and a sister, Barbara Jean Shuler. Dewey served in the US Army as a military policeman in Germany from 1958 to 1960. He also served in the US Army reserve. He retired from Dayco Industries following many years of service. Following his retirement he worked at Garrett Funeral Home for several years. He was an active member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and choir member. He is survived by his son, Tony Gaddis; two grandchildren, Holly Alvarado and Warren Gaddis; three great grandchildren, Chloe Smathers, Aubrey Alvarado, and Ayden Gaddis; and dear companion, Gail Burress. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 6 to 8 PM at Garrett Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mt.
