Maggie Valley, NC-Sherrill Edward “Eddie” Matthews, 72, died on May 23, 2016, in Waynesville, North Carolina. Eddie was born in Raleigh, North Carolina to the late Sherrill and Grace Holder Matthews. Eddie enjoyed coaching, and we have many fond memories of our summers at Fulbright Park. He also loved watching sports, and sharing stories about his sons and friends. Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Kaye Willoughby Matthews; three sons, Eric, Scott (Tania), and Mike; brother, Walter Matthews (Linda); grandchildren, Jessica, Bryson, and Cassandre; and “adopted son”, Dave Cursio.
