

Canton-Edna Inman McCarter, 90, died peacefully at The Brian Center on August 18, 2016. Edna was born in Haywood County on January 5, 1926, to the late William John Henry and Julia Parton Inman. Edna enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens, canning, quilting, embroidering, and keeping her house clean. Most of all she loved taking care of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her first husband, T.V. Chambers; her second husband, Mitch McCarter; a daughter, Rebecca Elizabeth Chandler; and four brothers and five sisters. Edna is survived by a son, Van Chambers (Kay); a daughter, Martha Sue Haney (Tommy); a sister, Ruth Cole; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 21, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Steve Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
