Gary Michael Coggins, 76, of Candler, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Born on October 13, 1949, in Jackson County, NC, Gary was the beloved son of the late Roy Alvin Coggins and Myrtle Phillips Coggins.

His military service was a source of lifelong pride and shaped the strength, discipline, and loyalty he carried throughout his life.
After returning home, Gary built a strong work ethic into everything he did. He began his civilian career working at a Mercedes dealership before eventually becoming a successful business owner. No matter the role, Gary was known for his determination, integrity, and willingness to provide for those he loved.
Above all else, Gary was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His family was the center of his world, and some of his happiest moments were spent cheering on his granddaughters at their sporting events. He took great pride in their accomplishments and never missed an opportunity to show his love and support.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Sandra Jean Coggins; his son, Todd Coggins and wife Tabitha; his daughter, Lynn Lowdermilk and husband, Jeff; and his treasured grandchildren, Averi Coggins, Bradlee Coggins and Shelby Smith.
