

Spring Creek-Herbert “Harold” Hunter, 84, of the Spring Creek Community, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 28, 2015. Harold was born in Haywood County on May 30, 1931, to the late Amos and Texie Teague Hunter. Harold enjoyed camping, fly fishing, digging ginseng, and telling stories. Above all, Harold loved to teach Sunday School.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Hunter; sisters, Genella McGuiness and Marlene Woody; and brothers, Jack Teague and Julius “Toot” Hunter.
Harold is survived by his wife of 63 years, Donna Lusk Hunter; three sons, Harold, Kenneth (Katty), and David (Donna) Hunter; a brother, Phil Hunter (Peggy); two sisters, Betty Phillips (Elmer) and Sarah "Tiny" Phillips; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 2, at Zion Baptist Church with the Reverend Jimmy Moore, the Reverend Ricky Townsend, and the Reverend Frank Willett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, July 1, at Garrett Funerals and Cremations.
