Helen Marie Cross Newland

Helen Marie Newland 1933 – 2015 Helen Marie Newland was called home to be with the Lord on April 9, 2015. Helen was born on January 20th, 1933 in Indian Springs, Tennessee to the late Orb Martin and Irene Spangler Cross. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Jimmy Lynn Newland; and two sons, Jimmy Aubrey Newland and Walter Max Newland, sister, Jessie Begley and husband, Jim. Helen moved with her husband Jimmy Lynn from Laurens, SC to Waynesville in 1961. They built one of the first houses in Hendriks Park, and lived there for many years. She is survived by her daughter, Frances L. Nelson and husband, Bob, of Matthews, and son Jeffery L. Newland and wife Kim, of Bethel; four granddaughters, Jennifer Ledford, Stacee Messer, Michele Floyd, and Amber Browning, and six great – grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Walter and wife Shirley of Bristol, Virginia, and three nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday, April 12, 2015 in the Chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Roy Kilby officiating.
