Mom peacefully bid farewell to the world she had enjoyed for 87 years. Her Brevard home nestled between the Blue Ridge and Pisgah Forest had been a haven of nature and serenity for her and husband Don. They also spent cooler seasons in Fort Myers Beach, FL, where she spent many happy days strolling, wading and swimming the Gulf Coast shoreline and beaches. Born in Detroit, her family moved to a lakefront home where she developed her lifelong love of swimming. She later lived 30 years in Boulder, CO, a mecca for her avid interest in hiking with the Colorado Mountain Club and others. She also could frequently be found hiking (or running!) her favorite "neighborhood hill", Mount Sanitas. Her active outdoor interests also included tennis, skiing and bicycling, and she was well-known for giving her young sons and neighbor kids rides on her bike or pulling them in a wagon. They all loved it, or even following along on their own small bikes. Mom worked as office manager at a health and beauty spa, and also owned and operated her own plant boutique. Beyond the shop, her love of plants was always evident with so many healthy species being nurtured indoors and out at home. In more recent years, she and Don embraced travel to many destinations, domestic or as diverse as New Zealand and Nepal. Their shared abiding love of cats meant they always had one or more of their happy, furry, purring companions around. Mom will be fondly remembered by her many friends, husband, brother John, her 3 sons, 3 grand-children and 4 great grand-children.
Gather for a celebration of the life she lived and enjoyed, and the joy and love she brought to others: Sunday, June 1st from 2-5 pm at Flagstaff Mountain summit shelter, Boulder, CO.
