Mary Kathleen Rathbone Franklin

Mary "Kathleen" Rathbone Franklin, age 87, of Waynesville passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday morning, November 4, 2021. Mary was born November 8, 1933 to the late Rubin and Bida Rathbone.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Harley Vance Messer and their two children, Retha Jone and Bernard Dale Messer; her second husband, William D. Franklin; three brothers, Homer Rathbone, Shook Rathbone, and Lewis Rathbone; and three sisters, Annie Burchfield, Ola Sutton, and Blanche Garland.

Survivors include a son, Bryson Franklin; daughter, Terry (Ricky) Burnette; close family nephew, Herb (Jeanie) Burchfield; grandchildren, Bryson Colton Franklin, William Franklin, Kristen Franklin, Julie Queen, Misty Rogers, Jessica Harris, Slade Burnette and Timmy Burnette; eight great grandchildren; and a foster son, James "Jim" (Lora) Inman and their children, John and Jessie.

Funeral service will be held at 2 PM Monday, November 8, 2021 in the chapel of Garrett Funeral Home with Doris Pressley, Phillip Pressley, and Jerry Nelson.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 6 to 8 PM at Garrett Funeral Home.

Burial at Bethel Cemetery
