Mary Alice Cogdill Nelson, age 79, of Waynesville, NC passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023. She was born in Haywood County to the late Jesse and Frances Cogdill.
She retired following 40 years of service at Enka later known as BASF.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Nelson; brother, James Cogdill; half sister, Ethel Matney.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Ronnie "Rooster" Nelson; brothers, Phil and Robert Cogdill; sister, Lucille Smith; half sister, Agnes Moody; Three grandchildren, Jesse Nelson, Ashleigh Nelson, and Chris Nelson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mary Alice will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 in the chapel of Garrett Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm on Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Riverside cemetery.
