

ParaLee Evans Messer, 84 of Waynesville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. ParaLee was born in the Hemphill Section of Haywood County on May 5, 1939, to the late Verlin and Mary Burgess Evans. ParaLee was a member of Cove Creek Baptist Church and a faithful Christian. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, and camping. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, Para Lee was preceded in death by loving husband of 66 years, Joe Jack Messer; and brother-in-law, Keith Gibson.
ParaLee is survived by her daughter, Donna Messer Hunter (David); son, Anthony Messer (Wendy); grandchildren, Alisha Hunter Hickman (Jeremy), Stephanie Hunter, Emily Messer and Ethan Messer; great-granddaughter, Hannelore Hickman; sisters, Ollie Gibson and Esther Hightower (Jerry); brothers, Larry Evans (Ilene) and Charles Ray Evans (LouAnn); and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 26, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with Reverend John Swanger III, Reverend Doctor Mark Golden and Reverend Doctor Nick Smith officiating. Private Burial will follow at Davis Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
