Patricia Pressley Fountain, 77, of Candler, NC, passed away peacefully, August 1, 2024, with her children by her side. Pat was the middle child of Shirley Cornelius and Patsy Inman Pressley of Cedar Creek in Cashiers, NC.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Darold G. Fountain, her loyal canine companion Jordi, and older brother Philip Pressley.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters Lora Ball (Dennis) of Weaverville, Shaylene Ball of Shallotte, son Timothy Ball of Candler; a stepmother Diane Pressley of Candler; a sister Sara Jones (Charlie) of Cashiers; three stepbrothers Michael Pressley (Angela) of Candler, Tracy Pressley (Vickie) of Brownsville, OR, and Chris Pressley of Asheville; grandchildren Pressley Edwards (Adrian) and Andrew Morgan of Leicester, Cassie Hyder (DJ) and Jessie Rice of Candler; great granddaughters Raegan Edwards and Adele Hyder; special family members Ted Ball and Connie Milliken; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Pat is leaving behind a legacy of love and care that extended beyond family and friends to a cherished passion for gardening. She found joy in nurturing plants and watching them flourish, turning her garden into a vibrant sanctuary that reflected her nurturing spirit and dedication. Pat’s green thumb and the serene beauty of her flowers and garden will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of seeing it thrive. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for the joy she brought into the world through her gardening and the beauty she created with each bloom.
In addition to her green thumb, Pat was talented in so many other ways. She was an expert at crocheting. She blessed many family members and friends with her beautiful handmade afghans for Christmas, Baby Showers, Birthdays, or for any occasion. She was crafty and excellent with her hands. Pat could do anything and everything she set her mind to do from laying the logs for our home in Candler, building decks by herself, laying out a garden, wallpapering, painting, plumbing, and she was even known to assist with changing a carburetor on the side of the road with her son. You name it, she could do it. Most importantly, she was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt, and friend to so many.
The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Dr. Ermarefe Fernandez, Internal Medicine Hospitalist at Mission Hospital, for genuinely caring and advocating for our mother’s needs and wishes. You made a positive difference in a very challenging time for us. Also, thank you to the staff of CarePartners Rehabilitation Hospital and CarePartners Hospice Solace Center for the loving care provided to our mother.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to CarePartners Hospice Solace Center at 21 Belvedere Rd, Asheville, NC 28803, or the charity of one’s choice.
