Mr. Robert “Lum” Derrick age 77 of Balsam, passed away July 13, 2014 at MedWest Harris Regional Hospital. He was born in Haywood County to the late Newman and Nina McCall Derrick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Derrick; sisters Ruby Revis, Iris Peebles, Clara Mehaffey; brothers Pat, Walter, and Charlie. Mr. Derrick served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his son Stephen Derrick and his wife Michele; daughter Tonja Bailey and her husband Danny; brother Lloyd Derrick and his wife Dorothy, all of Balsam; sister Ann Ruff of Hazelwood; grandchildren Holly and Felisha Sutton, Dakota Trantham and Caleb Bailey. A memorial service will be planned for a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project.
