Shirley Mae Myers

Shirley Jones Myers of Clyde, NC went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. She was 79 years old. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Mae Jones of Dellwood Road, Waynesville. She is the loving wife and life-long companion of Sidney Myers of Clyde, NC. She graduated Waynesville Township High School in 1954. In high school she played basketball for four years under Coach Weatherby. She was the founder and owner of Shirley’s Produce for approximately 25 years. She loved her customers and her business. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Louis Jones of Charlotte, NC and Billy Jones of Waynesville, NC; three sisters, Louise Stanley of Clyde, NC, Margaret Stamey of Candler, NC and Evelyn Ketner of Maggie Valley, NC. She is survived by her husband, Sidney Myers; one brother, Ned Jones and his wife Willie Jean of Waynesville, NC. She was blessed with four children, all surviving – three boys Mike Myers of Hiawassee, GA, Ronny Myers of Jonathan Creek, NC, and Dean Myers of Bethel, NC along with their wives, Sandy and Sherri; one daughter, Lynne Schreiner of Bush, LA along with her husband Tom. She is survived by six grandchildren, Libby Myers, Derry Myers, Natoshia Abdalla, Nathan Sutton, Brandon Schreiner and Dustin Myers along with their spouses Samantha, Bassem and Jenna as well as nine great grandchildren, Kirstin Myers, Aiden Myers, Dahlia Abdalla, Mya Abdalla, Azalea Abdalla, Damiyan Sutton, Alayna Sutton, Katie Schreiner and Dylan Schreiner, Sidney Myers; one best friend Emaline Frady of Dellwood Road, Waynesville, NC and many, many very good friends and extended family. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 24, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Rick Gibson officiating. Burial will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens of Waynesville immediately following the service. There will be a visitation from 6-8 PM on Friday, October 23, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Derry Myers, Nathan Sutton, Dustin Myers, Bassem Abdalla, Brian Myers, and Jerry Jaynes. Her hair was styled by Edna from Classic Touch Hair Fashions.
