Thomas Earl Smith

Thomas "Earl" Smith, age 86, of Clyde, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022 Surrounded by his family. Thomas was born March 22, 1936 in Haywood County, NC to the late Will Parker Smith and Mary Inez Marcus Smith.

Earl was retired from Dayco Industries. He was a longtime farmer, and a talented rock mason and carpenter. He also attended Jonathan Valley Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years and mother of his children, Beverly Anne Teague Smith; siblings, J.T. Smith, Howard Smith, Clayton Smith, Paul Smith, Louise Melton, Ruth Rogers and Emogene Webb.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Lillian "Lil" Smith; three sons, Michael Dewayne Smith and his wife Sharilyn, Thomas Daniel Smith and his wife Amy, and Roger Dale Smith and his wife Holly; five grandchildren, Savannah (Jason) Garet, Cash, Ellie, Erin, and Alana Smith; great granddaughter, Everley Garet; step daughter, Cathy (Ronnie) Best; step grandchildren, Justin and Josh Best; step great grandchildren, Gracie, Knox, Emma and Owen; several nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends and neighbors.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Garrett Funeral Home with the Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday evening August 1, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Garrett Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Fulbright Cemetery on Rogers Cove in Lake Junaluska following the service on Tuesday.
