August 7, 1927 – May 21, 2025
Virginia Lee Barlow was born on August 7, 1927 in Moultrie, Colquitt County, GA to Newton B. and Mary Lee (Holden) Barlow and was raised in Clearwater, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Fay (Barlow) Patterson, son, William V. “Billy” Noblit, Jr., and daughter, Mary JeaAnne “Jan” (Noblit) Michau. She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie N. Park (Wesley D. Park) of Bennettsville, SC and Robin N. Patascher (Barry C. Patascher) of Canton, NC; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
On February 14, 1948 she married William V. “Bill” Noblit at her home church, Calvary Baptist in Clearwater, FL. They made their home in Bill's hometown of Tarpon Springs whereupon four children were born into this union. Mary JeaAnne “Jan” Noblit, Bonnie Sue Noblit, William V. “Billy” Noblit, Jr. and Robin Gail Noblit.
Virginia was a homemaker and longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Tarpon Springs, the Women's Club of Tarpon Springs, Tarpon Springs Garden Club, Bridge Club, Coffee Klatch, a Tarpon Springs Jaycette, served as Sunset Hills Elementary PTA President and was a member of the Suncoast Bible Study, founded by Norma Neal Gause.
Her hobbies were sewing, knitting, crocheting, and of course gardening. We often joked that she could toss a dead plant onto the yard and it would take root and thrive again. She had such a sweet, quiet demeanor and her love and faith in Christ was always evident.
After the passing of her eldest child Jan, Virginia moved to the beautiful mountains of western NC to live with her daughter Robin, son-in-law Barry and her granddaughter Rachael at their mountain view, creekside home in Canton, NC. For those that knew of her love of nature and gardening, she was truly in her element there. She loved sitting on the creekside veranda while knitting, sipping her coffee, or just taking in the serenity of her surroundings. There were times she would visit and stay with her daughter Bonnie and husband Wesley at their beautiful historic Inn, the Breeden Inn circa 1886, in Bennettsville, SC. She had the best of both worlds and loved spending time there. Our Southern Belle loved the options her daughters offered her. We are so very grateful she was able to live out her last days with us in such beautiful scenery.
After numerous falls the decision was made to move her to assisted living where she was once again in her social element. She'd say, “I want to be where the action is”, even at the age of 97. She enjoyed BINGO, arts & crafts, baking, live music, church services and of course the on property hair and nail salon. We are so very grateful she was able to live out her last days with us in such beautiful scenery.
Virginia Lee (Barlow) Noblit passed away May 21, 2025 at Spicewood Cottages Assisted Living Facility in Clyde, NC. She is deeply missed by all who loved her.
