

Yates, Charles Wm “Chuck” at 71 years of age on Sunday, December 6, 2015. Son of Charles and Fern Yates. Beloved husband of Sara “Sally” Yates for 50 years; dear father of Catherine (Richard) Hund and David (Tracy) Yates; loving grandfather of Amelia Grace, Christopher Charles, Benjamin Andrew and Nicholas William; brother of John (Shelly) Yates and Susan (Gary) Turnbow; brother-in-law of Barbara, John, Stuart and Susan; uncle and great-uncle of 20, cousin and friend to many.
Charles grew up in Independence, MO and graduated from the University of Central Missouri and the University of Missouri, St. Louis. He was an Art Educator in Webster Groves School District, an Administrator in Rockwood School District and in Edwardsville, IL; an Eagle Scout and Scoutmaster for his son’s Troop #301 and very involved in his daughters Girl Scout troop; volunteer Educator at Litzsinger Road Ecology Center; Charles was a Missouri Master Naturalist; a 50 year member and Elder of Webster Groves Presbyterian Church; He, along with his wife were involved with the Missouri Mycological Society and the Incurable Epicureans; a Katy Trail Volunteer with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources; a Habitat for Humanity Volunteer in St. Louis and New Orleans. Chuck was a sculptor, painter, scuba diver, cyclist and camper and was “just ducky”.
SERVICE: Memorial Service, Saturday, December 12, 2015, 3:00 pm at Webster Groves Presbyterian Church, 45 W. Lockwood Ave., Webster Groves, MO. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Chuck’s name may be made to: Webster Rock Hill Ministries, Building Fund; 111 E. Waymire Ave.; Webster Groves, MO 63119.
