

died peacefully, November 23, 2014, with his beloved wife Gini and sons, Robert and Peter at his bedside. He was 95 years old.
Born in Fulton, KY in 1919, he moved to Webster Groves as a child and graduated from Webster High School, Class of 1936. He began his broadcast career at KXOK Radio in St. Louis until he enlisted in the Army during WWII and was assigned to the Signal Corp. While stationed at Ft. Monmouth, he met the love of his life, Virginia, and they were married in 1943. He completed Officer Candidate School and attained the rank of major. His wartime assignment was Aide de Camp to General John L. Homer who was responsible for the security of the Panama Canal. After the war, he returned to St. Louis to resume his broadcasting career at KXOK and then at KSD Radio and KSD TV where he anchored the 6 and 10 pm newscasts. He was the President of the St. Louis Press Club, and served as the Master of Ceremonies for numerous events throughout the area. Bob was a member of Webster Groves Presbyterian Church for 83 years, sang in the Chancel Choir there for more than 70 years, was baritone soloist for 15 years and served as a Trustee. In 2013, he was named a Kentucky Colonel by Governor Steve Beshear.
Bob loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and golf and as a patron of the arts regularly attended performances of the St. Louis Symphony, St. Louis Opera and the Repertory Theatre. Bob and Gini traveled throughout the United States, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Virginia (nee Curry), sons Robert (Carol) and Peter (Debra), granddaughters Amy Hille Glascock (Will), Jessica, and Stephanie (Brent), niece Susan Spectorsky (Joel Lidov). He was preceded in death by his sister Lucille and brother David Reilich.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 29 at 2:00 PM at Webster Groves Presbyterian Church. The family requests that donations in lieu of flowers be sent to the church at 45 West Lockwood, Webster Groves, MO 63119
