Elmer Wade Guidry, 80, a native and resident of Hayes was entrusted to God’s loving care on Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Wade retired from Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury. He was Catholic by faith and was a parishioner of St. John Marie Vianney in Bell City.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 60 years, Jeannette Marie Broussard Guidry; sons, David Guidry and wife Patricia, Ricky Guidry and wife Beth, and Eric Guidry; Grandchildren, Shannon, Micheal, Courtney, Cody, Ashley, Alyse, and Brooke. He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren.
Wade was preceded in death by a baby girl, Lisa Ann Guidry; grandson, Devin Guidry; great-grandson, Nakota Guidry; brothers, Downey “speedy” Guidry and Wilmer Wayne “Ponk” Guidry; parents, Lucien Guidry and Edna G. Guidry.
Visitation will commence at Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh on Friday, July 31, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The rosary will be at 6:00 p.m. The visitation will continue at the funeral home on Saturday, August 1, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. until Christian Service at 10:00 a.m. with Father Roland Vaughn as celebrant. Committal service will follow in the Lacassine Cemetery.
