Esta Benoit

She was born Jan. 24, 1922, in Morse, La. She married Dallas Benoit on May 4, 1940, and they resided in Welsh their entire lives. He preceded her in death in 1996 after 56 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Scotty Vanicor.

Surviving are her five children, Bonnie Vanicor and her husband Joe Ray, D.L. Benoit and his wife Gretchen, Pat Mills and her husband Tom, Keith Benoit and his wife Joan and Randy Benoit and his wife Naomi; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Esta worked as an AVON Representative for many years, was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, served on the Alter Society and Rosary Group. She will be remembered as a good cook, who enjoyed spending time with her family and dancing.

Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh with a rosary service at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday at 1 p.m. until leaving for service. A funeral Mass will be on Monday at 3 p.m. at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. Father Allen Trouille will officiate. Entombment will follow the service at the church cemetery.
