John Edward Freeland Jr., age 78, of Welsh, La passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022 in Texas, home with family. John was born August 14, 1943 to John E Freeland Sr. and Florence Hyde Freeland in Crowley, LA.
John was a resident of Welsh for most of his life where he graduated from Welsh High School and then went on to attend some college at Centenary College of Louisiana. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. John loved fishing and gardening, but his true joy in life was visiting with his family and friends. Throughout his lifetime, John was a rice farmer, oil field worker and a truck driver. He exemplified love and kindness to all those around him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris Freeland; children, Ronald Freeland and wife Courtney, Roland Freeland and wife Reysa and Suzy Carr and husband Brent; step children, Shane Corbello, Danielle Corbello and Dana Monceaux; grandchildren, Madison Freeland, Abigail Freeland, Vyolet Freeland, Adam Freeland, Karli Freeland, Allison Loewer, and John Samuel Mayes; great grandchildren, Adrian Ortiz and Jayme Ortiz; and siblings, Cecilia Faye Brock; Jessie Belle Freeland, Florence E Beard and husband James, Jim Freeland and wife Jan, and Betty E Salassi and husband Gene.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Chester J. Freeland and Paul David Freeland; and granddaughter, Cydni K. Freeland.
The family will welcome relatives and friends on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will resume on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 8:00 a.m. until the time of services. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
