

Vanessa Landry, 43 yrs old passed away on October 4, 2011 at 6.15 am in Houston, TX at St. Joseph Hospital, after a 2 year and 4 month battle with breast cancer. She was born March 22, 1968 at Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, LA. A native of Lacassine, LA, she was currently residing in Denham Spring, LA since March of 2010. She was a graduate of Welsh High class of 1986 and Delta Technical School. In 1988, she started work at Waste Management of Lake Charles, her only job.
Van or “V” as she was affectionately known, was caring, happy, loving and giving person. She never met a stranger in work or her personal life. Everyone always remembered her after meeting her. Van was dearly loved by her family and co-workers. Her smile will never be forgotten.
Van was an amazing mother, daughter, sister and friend. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Logan Paul Landry, of Denham Spring, La., mother Naomi Mott LeBlanc of Lacassine, LA.,3 brothers Edward F. LeBlanc, Jr of Nacogdoches, TX, Gerald “Scott” LeBlanc and wife Jannalyn of Welsh, and Andrew “Drew” LeBlanc and companion Ric Hasenyager of San Antonio, TX. 2 sisters Annette LeBlanc Hayes of Lafayette and Dana S. LeBlanc of San Antonio, TX, sister-in-law Deborah Leblanc of Nacogdoches, TX, 5 nieces and 6 nephews, 2 great-nephews and 1 great-niece, and the father of her son, Lucian P. Landry. And a wealth of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Edward F. LeBlanc, Sr, niece Sealley Donn Stokes, maternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Claude Mott, Sr. and paternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Andrew LeBlanc and 2 uncles.
Honorary pallbearers will be Burk Chuter, Ben Bourgeois, Frank LaBarbera, Jake Philmen, Lance Butler, Kenny Abboud, Drew LeBlanc and Scott LeBlanc.
The family would like the thank Dr. Sara Reddy and staff of Reddy Oncology , the nursing staff of St. Joseph Hospital and Dr. Scott Sullivan and staff of the Center for Restorative Breast Surgery for all the care and compassion given to Vanessa during her treatment. We would also like to thank Waste Management for not only being her employer but also a family that loved and supported her through this time.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Lacassine Catholic Church. Father Roland Vaughn will officiate. Directly following the service, a memorial gathering will be held at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Susan G. Koman Foundation in the name of Mary Vanessa LeBlanc Landry.
