Michael P. Giggar, 80, of Welsh, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021 in Jennings, LA. He was born to his late parents, Leo and Ada Giggar on September 10, 1941 in Welsh, LA. He was a lifelong resident of Welsh, where he was a 1959 graduate of Welsh High School. He attained his Master's Degree in Education from McNeese State University and taught and coached for over 30 years with the Jeff Davis School System. He also played college baseball at McNeese during his time there. In his later years, he enjoyed playing golf and he facilitated the Junior Golf Tournaments at Pine Shadows.
He is survived by his four daughters, Rebecca Haaga and husband Charles of Spring, TX, Emily Smith and husband Jason of Spring, TX, Courtney Williams and husband Brett of Spring, TX, and Ashley Cormier and husband Cole of Lake Charles, LA; one sister, Wanda Jolie of Welsh, LA; along with nine grandchildren.
Michael is preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon Giggar and Leo "Boy" Giggar, Jr.; and one sister, Willa "Billy" Berlinger.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Welsh, LA. on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at 10:00am, with Father Whitney Miller officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh, LA. on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm, with a Rosary at 6:30pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 8:00am until the procession to the church.
