Vashti L Tupper

Vashti was born in Lake Arthur, La April 19, 1928. She taught the 3rd grade in Bell City, La for 22 years before retiring. She was an active member in the DAR, as well as Book Club and volunteered at the VA Hospital in Jennings, La upon retirement. She was also a member of St Luke’s Episcopal Church in Jennings, LA.

She attended Welsh High and upon graduation attended LSU in Baton Rouge where she was an alumna of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority Omega Chapter of LSU. After receiving her degree from LSU and commencing teaching she continued her Post Graduate Degree at McNeese State University where she received her Masters plus 30.

She is survived by her sister Beverly Lyon DeSonier and husband Bob of Bangkok, Thailand; her son Robbie Rounsaville and wife Becky of Choudrant, La; stepchildren Bill Tupper and wife Tania of Sweetlake, La, Bobby Tupper and wife Maxine of Fenton,La, Roxanna Pugh and husband Cleve of Welsh, La and Toby Tupper and wife Rachel of Abbeville, La. She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years Roy James "Tiny" Tupper; daughter Deborah Rounsaville Cooper; her parents Ralph and Iva Lyon; and her sister Roberta Lyon May.

Pallbearers will be Robbie Rounsaville, Bill Tupper, Ben Tupper, Robert DeSonier, Cleve Pugh, Buster Young, David Verret and Gene Caldwell.

Her services will be held at Hixon Funeral Home in Welsh, La commencing at 3 P.M. Sunday, April 19th. Visitation will be prior to services Sunday from 1 to 3 P.M. The Reverend Kathy Doherty Ogea will officiate. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Welsh, La following the service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 1818 N.
