Yola was a lifelong resident of Welsh, LA who was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. She was active in the church choir and Catholic Daughters. Yola and her husband owned and operated Welsh Insurance Agency for over 50 years. She was one of the founding members of the Roaring 20’s Group in Welsh who performed throughout Louisiana. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who will be greatly missed.
Those left behind to cherish her memories are a son, Kent Peterson of Welsh, LA; son, Clark Peterson and wife, Nancy of Welsh, LA; daughter, Rebecca L. Peterson of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Kris Peterson and wife, Amy, Nicholas Peterson and wife, Holly, Bryant Peterson and wife, Whitney, Paige P. Daley and husband, Kyle, Jazalyn Bias and fiancé, Moses, Brittany Bias, and Johnny Bias; great-grandchildren, Duke, Ella, Carter, Nick, Kolin, Milayah, Moses, Alaysia, and Tra’Kell; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George C. “Pete” Peterson, daughter-in-law, Kathy Peterson, parents, Louis and Lula Doucet, and brothers, Carl, Hilton, and Hilary Doucet.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2018 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Welsh, LA. Reverend Alan Trouille will officiate. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Seven Dolors Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday with a Rosary at 6 p.m. and will resume at 9 a.m until 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh.
