Evangelina Cruz, age 62, passed away on November 29, 2024 after battling with cancer for nearly four and a half years. She retired from UPS after almost 38 years of service as a driver and loved interacting with her customers. She also loved to cook and sew. Despite her busy schedule, she always found time to spend with our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. She also liked to help others, especially her parish of San Martin de Porres in Weslaco. She is survived by her two children, Jason and Athena Handy, and her siblings: Melba C. Mata, Ana Maria Cruz, Isaac Cruz, Adela Cruz (twin), Jose Maria Cruz, and Maria Isabel Cruz. She was preceded in death by her parents Teodulo Cruz and Constancia C. Cruz.
A visitation for Evangelina will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 4:00 PM. A rosary will occur Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 10:00 AM at San Martin De Porres, Weslaco, TX. A burial will occur Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Highland Memorial Park, 6705 North Fm 88, Weslaco, Texas 78596.
