With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Felix Rolando Mercado, age 74, who departed this world on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Born on March 31, 1951, in Mission, Texas, Felix was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many.
Felix lived a life full of joy, laughter, and unwavering love for his family. He was the heart and soul of every gathering—the one who could light up a room with his jokes and his infectious laughter. He loved to dance, especially when his grandkids were around, and he cherished every moment spent surrounded by the people he loved most.
Whether he was sipping a drink and sharing stories, teasing his loved ones with his playful sense of humor, or simply sitting back to watch his grandchildren play, Felix found happiness in the simple joys of life. He was known affectionately as “the biggest nut of the family,” and it’s a title he wore with pride.
Felix is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, the love of his life, Agustina Mercado, with whom he built a beautiful family and shared a lifetime of memories. He leaves behind his children: Rachel Mercado, Felix (Armida) Mercado Jr., Connie Mercado, Alfredo (Anna) Mercado, and Magdalena Mercado. He was a proud grandfather to 17 grandchildren and a doting great-grandfather to 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his cherished siblings, who will miss his laughter and love dearly.
Felix's legacy is one of warmth, humor, and boundless love. He leaves behind countless memories that will be treasured forever by all who knew him. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and the stories they’ll continue to share.
Though he may be gone from our sight, he will never be gone from our hearts.
