

Fidel Martinez, 65 of Edcouch, Texas passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023. He was born December 05, 1957 in Flint, Michigan, the son of the late Benito and Maria Martinez. He was the youngest of nine children.
He graduated from Edcouch-Elsa High School in 1976. He would become a truck driver for the next 47 years. He was affectionately called "Canicon" for his big light- brown eyes.
Fidel married Norma (Libreros) Martinez on August 19, 2004, in McAllen, Texas .
He is survived by his wife Norma, daughters Rosemary Jean Dinneen and Roxanne Martinez ,from his first marriage to Maxine Garza, and his granddaugher Maximina Selena Dinneen. Survived by his siblings Juan Martinez, Rebecca Martinez, Rachel Esparza and Rosa Elizondo. As well as, 34 nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his Stepchildren, from his second marriage to Norma Libreros: Miguel Ramiro, Ivan Ramiro and Maria Ramiro and Stepgrandchildren Dylan Ramiro, Ellyn Ramiro, Ivanna Ramiro and Norma Sofia Ramiro.
Preceded in death by his brothers, Pablo Martinez, Noe Martinez, Daniel Martinez and Benito Martinez Jr.
When he wasn't driving over the road in his semi truck, Fidel loved spending time with his family, bbqing, listening to music and watching the Dallas Cowboys.
He will be remebered by his phone calls, where he would share stories of his travels, what he was having for dinner and new jokes.
Fidel was always the life of the party and will be tremendously missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation for Fidel will be held Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Highland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 6705 North Fm 88, Weslaco, Texas 78596. A rosary will occur Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 7:00 PM. A burial will occur Friday, September 29, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Highland Memorial Park, 6705 North Fm 88, Weslaco, Texas 78596.
