Flor Estela Ortiz, born on December 28, 1941, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, to Cruz Franco Gonzalez and Ramona Rios Franco, peacefully entered eternal rest on April 3, 2026, at her residence in Weslaco, surrounded by the love she so freely gave throughout her life.
Flor was a woman whose presence brought warmth, comfort, and joy to all who knew her. She was kind, compassionate, giving, and deeply caring—an admirable soul whose strength and grace shone even through life’s most difficult moments. Her sense of humor never faded, and her laughter was a gift that lifted the spirits of those around her.
She was a woman of many talents. A gifted seamstress, Flor lovingly created baby blankets for each of her grandchildren—treasured keepsakes that will forever wrap them in her love, especially in moments when they long for her comforting embrace. She also found joy in life’s simple pleasures, never missing an opportunity to play a lively game of lotería. An exceptional cook, she will be fondly remembered for her delicious meals, especially her beloved asado de puerco, which brought family together time and time again. She enjoyed shopping and took great pride in caring for her family.
Flor’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Pedro L. Ortiz, and their children: Rita Ortiz, Ruth Perales, Roxana Macias, Rocio (Michael) Pierson, Ramona (Arturo Jr.) Garcia, and Ruby (Randy) Mesa. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her cherished grandchildren: Nathan Lee Ortiz, Gabriel Macias, Daniel Macias, Adrian Macias, Sebastian Macias, Viviana Perales, Luis A. Perales, Arturo Garcia III, Abel Garcia, Andrew Garcia, Arren Garcia, Alejandro Cantu Jr., Ivan Cantu, Miranda Cantu, Domingo Mesa, Kaitlyn Pierson, and Edric Pierson, as well as her many great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored deeply.
She is now reunited in eternal peace with her loving parents; her dear sons-in-law, Gabriel C. Macias, Luis Alonso Perales, Enrique Rodriguez and Alejandro Cantu; and her siblings, Inocencio Franco, Jose Cruz Franco, Arturo Franco and Reyes Franco.
Flor Estela Ortiz leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and devotion that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always cherished.
