Graciela Hernandez, 71, of Mercedes, Texas, went home to heaven on March 17, 2026, at Knapp Medical Center. She was born on December 9, 1954, in Weslaco, Texas, to Juan Hernandez and Margarita Hernandez.
Graciela was known for her fun, charming personality and the warmth she shared with everyone she met. She had a way of making people feel welcome and loved, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. She also found joy in life’s simple pleasures—especially her love for an ice-cold Coca-Cola, which always seemed to make her smile.
She dedicated 34 years of service to Aramark Uniform Services, where she built not only a career but lasting friendships through her hard work and commitment.
Above all, Graciela was a devoted mother who raised her two children on her own with strength and love. She also helped raise her honorary granddaughter CallaRosa Sanchez, showing her generous and caring spirit. Family was at the center of her life, and she gave endlessly to those she loved.
She is survived by her children, David Garcia and Irma Garcia; her sister, Alma Gonzalez, along with many nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents in heaven, Juan and Margarita Hernandez, her sisters Delia Garza, Marisela Torres, and Mary Hernandez; her brothers Ricardo Hernandez and Juan Hernandez; her brothers-in-law Tomas Garza and Joe Gonzalez Sr.; and her nephew Joe Gonzalez Jr.
Visitation services will be held at 3:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at De Angel Funeral Home in Weslaco, Texas on Friday, March 20, 2026. Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m. A mass will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at De Angel Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m.
