James “Jim” Fremont Kannenberg, born on December 21, 1961, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 7, 2025. Born the youngest of seven children, Jim never lost his youthful spirit and gentle demeanor.
Left to cherish his memory is his mother Lucille Daugherty, his siblings David Kinney (Jaci†), Sandra Hart (Richard Sr.†), Michael Kinney, Rick Kinney (Rosie), Joe Kannenberg (Dawn), and Judy Beckrich (Gary). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
He is now reunited with his father Norman Kannenberg and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Jim was a kind and good-natured person who was always ready to share a laugh by offering a joke or one of his many one-liners or funny stories he’d collected over his life. He had an amazing memory and routinely delighted those around him with hilarious tales of mischief and hijinks from days gone by.
Jim had a creative soul and was a great appreciator of music. He was a talented mandolin player and loved all kinds of music, especially rock and roll and bluegrass (like his dad). Jim loved tinkering with his 1992 pickup, swimming, boating, and being with family, especially his nieces and nephews. He was great with kids, who often recognized in him a kindred spirit.
Special thanks to his adopted sister “Abby” Ortiz and family.
