April 17, 1943 - December 20, 2020 spans the initial sunrise and final sunset for our beloved father, Marcelo Alvarado. The dash represents the time he was alive on this earth and holds a special meaning with each one of us who loved him and know what that dash represents.
Papi was a very loving father to each of his children. As a husband, he did his best with his virtues and despite his shortcomings. People who knew him recognized that he was a great man who had a lot to offer, no matter how much or little he had, he was always willing to share with others.
He liked to celebrate life and was filled with happiness, especially when in the company of family gatherings. Our father was a great farmer, who liked to cultivate the soil, see its fruits, and enjoy nature. During the course of his life, he had the opportunity learn a new trade and with the support of good people around him, he studied and excelled in mechanics. With his noble heart and character, he came in touch with many good people who befriended him and helped him bring his family to the United States.
In life things did not always come easy but he never gave up. Despite the ups and downs in 2017, he gave his life to Our Lord Jesus Christ. Since then, daddy saw life from a different perspective. As time went by, we could see on his hands the calluses that the years of hard work marked as he strived to provide for us the best he could. Now we will only remember the love and nobility that those hands represented to us. Papito, you left this world too soon and you have taken a piece of our hearts with you, but your memory will live with us forever."
