Olga Caballero Perez, age 86, a longtime resident of Weslaco, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her home. She was born on October 22, 1939, and lived a life beautifully marked by faith, devotion, and unconditional love.
A Life Rooted in Faith
Olga was a woman of unwavering faith and a devoted parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church for more than 65 years. Her relationship with God was the foundation of her life. She lived her Catholic faith not only through prayer and church attendance, but through the way she loved, forgave, served, and cared for others. Her home was a place of prayer, warmth, and welcome, and her trust in God never wavered. We take comfort in knowing that she is now rejoicing in heaven, reunited with loved ones, and resting in the presence of the Lord she served so faithfully.
Olga was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Pascuala Martinez and Agustin Caballero; her devoted husband, Ramiro S. Perez; her son, Ramiro Horacio Perez; her daughter, Olga “Gogi” Segura; and her siblings Jesus “Chuy” Caballero, Roel Caballero, Agustin Caballero Jr., and Virginia Garcia.
She is survived by her cherished children: Genoveva (“Genny”) Alaniz, Linda Lopez (David), Romaldo Perez, and Diana Gallegos (Rogelio). She is also survived by her loving siblings Benita C. Garcia, Irene C. Jasso, and Rafael “Chato” Caballero.
She was the proud grandmother of 20 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved deeply and prayed for faithfully.
A Devoted Mother and Grandmother
Above all else, Olga was an extraordinary mother and grandmother. Her love was steady, sacrificial, and unconditional. She had a special gift for nurturing those around her, offering wisdom, comfort, and reassurance through both her words and her actions. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren and found immense joy in their lives, accomplishments, and milestones.
Some of her happiest moments were the simple ones — shopping with her daughters, sharing breakfast over warm cafecito, laughing around the table, and spending time with the people she loved most. Her presence brought warmth and peace, and her home was always filled with love, conversation, and faith. To her family, she was a constant source of strength, guidance, and comfort, and her legacy as a mother and grandmother will live on for generations.
To all who knew her, Olga was more than a grandmother — she was a mother, a confidant, a prayer warrior, and a source of comfort. She had a remarkable way of making everyone feel seen, loved, and cared for. Her gentle spirit, kind words, and radiant smile reflected the love of Christ.
