Rene Montelongo, age 74, of Weslaco, Texas left to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 in the comfort of his home. Rene was born on February 5, 1949 to Jose Maria Montelongo and Elena Alaniz in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico.
Rene was a father, grandfather and dear friend to many. He was an avid reader, hard-worker, sociable person and a great dancer. He loved spending time with family and friends. Rene loved his grandkids and always had a way of making everyone he met feel special and brought laughter to those around him.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, San Juanita Montelongo and his children: Nancy V Montelongo, Rene Montelongo Jr, Maria G (Miguel) Garcia, Neyda (Daniel) Escamilla and Rodolfo Montelongo. He will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Randy Jr, Victoria, Vivian, Vannah, Samuel, Virginia Smith, Ryan, Annette & Jonathan Montelongo, Briana and Brissa Garcia, Andrew, Arrick & Liam Escamilla and Dakota & Seth Montelongo and great-grandchildren: Axton and Alyvia Cavazos.
A Memorial Service for Rene will be held Monday, May 22, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Highland in Weslaco. Following the memorial service will be a scattering of remains at 7:00 PM at Cameron County Beach Access 4, South Padre Island, TX. In commemoration of Mr. Montelongo family and friends are encouraged to wear white.
