Ann Kathleen Janssen Tolsdorf, of Johnston, was born July 26, 1945 and died May 8, 2012 of ovarian cancer.
Ann was a graduate of Broadlawns School of Nursing and Drake University. The majority of her nursing career involved community health, including Public Health Nursing, Broadlawns Medical Center, and Polk County Health Department. She was an avid reader, enthusiastic traveler, and collector of hugs. The opportunity to be a snowbird in Yuma, Arizona for several years was a treasured experience.
Survivors include her husband, James Tolsdorf; children, Christopher Janssen (Maureen), Sheryl Montabon (Frank) and Jeff Tolsdorf; grandchildren, Vincent and Lillian Montabon and Lauren and Cole Janssen, and sister, Mary Kerns. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Darlene (Moore) Carter, brother, Don Carter and first husband, Carl Janssen.
A Memorial Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 13, 2012 at McLaren’s Chapel. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2012 at McLaren’s Chapel followed by burial of cremated remains at 3 p.m. at Scranton Cemetery in Scranton, Iowa.
Ann has suggested any contributions be made to The Wounded Warrior Project or charity of your choice. Jim and Ann wish to thank family, friends and Pastor Braun for all the loving calls, visits and prayers that enriched their lives in recent months. Special thanks also to Dr. Behrens and Mercy Hospice for their guidance on this final journey.
