

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, October 12th at McClaren's funeral home in West Des Moines.
Arnie was born on November 30th, 1938 in Cambridge, Iowa to Everett and Javerna (Birkestrand) Twit. He graduated from Slater High School in 1956 and attended Iowa State University in Ames his Freshman year of college. He then continued his education at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, where he earned a degree in Accounting in 1960.
After graduation, he joined the public accounting firm of McGladrey, Hansen and Dunn in Des Moines (which later became McGladrey & Pullen)... He was named partner in 1966 and spent his entire career there, retiring in 1999. He loved his job and coworkers--- and was respected and admired by his peers.
Arnie was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and Alumnus,and had season tickets at Kinnick stadium for 6 decades.
He enjoyed golfing and fishing with his son Randy and was a world traveler, having visited all the continents.
During his retirement years, he especially enjoyed attending his granddaughters' sporting and other events.
Arnie was an enthusiastic volunteer for many years in the Des Moines AA community, Sons of Norway, and for local golf tournaments.
He is survived by his son Randy Twit of West Des Moines, Granddaughters Courtney, Stephany and Mallory Twit of West Des Moines, brother Kenneth and his wife Kay Twit of St. Petersburg, FLA, and sister Tania Cole of DeLand, FLA.
Arnie was preceded in death by his parents Everett & Javerna, sister Elaine Weeks, former wife Kay and infant son Thomas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sons of Norway, the Slater Historical Society, or the University of Iowa Athletic Dept.
A visitation will be held at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel & Mortuary, located at 801 19th Street, West Des Moines, IA, 50265, US. The visitation is scheduled for October 12, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
