Audrey Morman, 92, died Tuesday, October 17, 2017. A Funeral Mass will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Audrey was born February 18, 1925 to Amanda (Baylor) and Francis McKenna in Jersey City, NJ. She lived there until she enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps. Audrey was stationed in Daytona, FL where she served as a physical therapist. It was there where she met and married Leo Morman.
After the war Leo and Audrey moved to a number of small towns in Iowa where Leo was a teacher/administrator. They ended up moving to West Des Moines in 1962.
Audrey is survived by her children, Dennis (Diana) of West Des Moines, Diane Morman (James Arthur) of Iowa City, Brian (Melissa) of Denver, CO, and Mary Morman-Graham (Kerry Graham) of Des Moines; one sister-in-law, Patricia McKenna of Spotswood, NJ; one grandchild; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Leo; two brothers, Francis and James McKenna; and three sisters, Grace Davidson, Helen Dowd, and Gladys Urquhart.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s or the charity of the donor’s choice.
