Bill Cramer, 85, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Mercy West Lakes in West Des Moines. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at McLaren’s Chapel with a memorial service at 11 a.m.
Bill was born in 1931 in Perry, IA, the son of Doc and Irene (Running) Cramer. He was the Executive Vice-President at the International Bank of Washington. Bill was a Colonel and proudly served the U.S. Army for 38 years of active and reserve duty. He was a past member of the Isaac Walton League in Des Moines and the Civil Affairs Association. Bill enjoyed fishing, woodworking and never met a dog he did not like.
Bill is survived by his wife, Ann of West Des Moines; sons, Paul (Mary Lou) of Spotsylvania, VA and John (Janelle) of Howell, MI; daughters, Lora Anne (Tom) Byrne of Palm Coast, FL and Susan (Bill) Rankin of Sterling, VA; step-son, Ed (Jane) McAtee of Booneville; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis; parents; brother, John; and step-son, Dick McAtee.
