Chester Gatliff, 54, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, September 25, 2011
at Mercy West Lakes Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lutheran Church of Hope with private burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Chester was born in Iowa Falls, IA and was a graduate of Creston High School in Creston, IA. He moved to the Des Moines area in 1978. He worked in the food industry for 36 years; the last 12 years with Martin Bros. He loved fishing, riding his Harley, being with his daughters and especially his honey Kim.
Chester is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kim; two daughters, Megan and Madison; half-sister, LaVonne Berg of Lake Forest, IL; in-laws, Gordon and Barb Bills, Shelley and Jeff Longstaff and family, and Holly and Kevin Bills, all of Creston; and Cindy Quinn and family of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramah and Jim Gatliff; brother, Monty “Bud”
and two sisters, Mary and Peggy.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to Chester’s family.
