

Cinda Kay Browne, age 74, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Saturday, May 24, 2025. Visitation with the family will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel, 801 19th Street, West Des Moines, Iowa 50265. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Pkwy., West Des Moines, IA 50266 with a lunch following the service. A private entombment will be at Resthaven Cemetery Mausoleum.
Cinda was born in Des Moines to Donald and Bernice Shawhan. She graduated from Ankeny High School.
She married Lonnie Ray Browne September 22, 1973 and spent most of their lives together in Des Moines. They attended and served in church for many years and had four children, Chandra, Jodi, Leah, and Tory. So many others called her Mother as if she were their own.
She was known for her tender heart, deep love for Jesus, loving advice, unconditional love, and open arms to children. Her kids and grandkids meant everything to her. She was a mom, grandma, wife, daughter, sister, friend, Sunday School teacher, childcare provider, and so much more. She was gentle and quiet and liked a good party. Cinda often volunteered to care for others in the church.
Cinda will be greatly missed by those who knew her and especially by those she leaves behind. She is survived by three children, Jodi Nevins (Eric) of Littleton, CO, Leah Dreyer (Ben) of Waukee, IA, and Tory Browne (Jadney) of Granger, IA; ten grandchildren, Emily, Elijah, Josiah, and Zechariah Nevins, Maggie, Makaylah and Neil Dreyer, and Kayley (Reed), Mya, and Sawyer Browne; two siblings, Donna Anglin and twin sister, Linda Sferrazzo (Anthony). She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Browne; dear daughter, Chandra Browne; parents, Donald and Bernice Shawhan; sister, Cheryl Ann Shawhan; brother, Stephen Shawhan and his daughter, Micky.
