Dale Rhiner passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, January 13, 2025 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at McLaren’s.
Dale was born in Des Moines, IA to Raymond and Melba Rhiner on July 14, 1945. He attended Valley High School and graduated in 1964. Dale worked for his uncle at Warren’s Steakhouse and also volunteered as an auxiliary police officer in Des Moines before settling at the family plumbing business, Rhiner Brothers Plumbing, which was owned by his father and Uncle Roy. Eventually, he and his brother Carl would be owners of the business. After the family business closed, he decided to build homes under R&R Homes. He then semi-retired but still helped others with their plumbing needs and emergencies.
Dale married Laura Ward on February 20, 1965 and together had three children. He enjoyed his old-time movies, Godzilla, King Kong, The Three Stooges, Old Westerns and war themed movies. He also enjoyed an array of music genres. Dale never met a stranger who didn’t become a new friend. He was loved and respected by many.
Dale is survived by his wife of 59 years Laurie; daughter, Daleen “Dazy” (Leann) Wolfe of West Des Moines; son, Matthew (Kari) Rhiner of Norwalk; grandchildren, Zachary (Kelsee) Wiles, Patrick Wiles, Joe Miller, Sonya Wolfe, Jordan Rhiner and Jasmyn Rhiner; and great grandchildren, Alina and Raelynn.
