Dennis William Harker of Hartsville, SC was born March 14,1947 in Des Moines, IA. He died November 9, 2025 from complications of a stroke. A Celebration of life will be held Tuesday November 25, 2025 from 2-4 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel with a service at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
He earned a pharmacy degree from Drake University. He loved his job as a DEA agent in Laredo, TX and Miami, FL. Then as a pharmacist in Des Moines, IA. Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday. Almost every year he went to Breckenridge, CO with friends and family to ski. He was also an avid golfer. One of his favorite things to do was to try new restaurants and eat out. Spending time with his family brought him great joy, especially his two granddaughters and dog, Sophie.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Marion Harker and mother, Betty Smalley. He was also preceded by his sons, Shad William Harker and Tad Tyler Harker.
He is survived by Teri Burnham who has been by his side for over 25 years; his daughter, Brandie Harker Avery; and his granddaughters, Autumn Taylor Avery and Amber Nicole Avery.
