Evelyn (Banick) Sobczak passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014 in Norwalk. Evelyn was born June 18, 1920 in Mazeppa Township, Wabasha County, MN to Fred and Jesse Banick. She married Howard Budensiek on February 2, 1940. They made their home on a farm in rural Zumbro Falls, MN. Howard died in 1974. In 1977 Evelyn married John Sobczak. They lived in Duluth, MN until John’s death in 2003. Evelyn moved to West Des Moines, IA in 2006 and in 2012 she moved to Regency Care Center in Norwalk, IA.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Adrienne (Jim) Sielaff of Breckenridge, CO; son, Lloyd (Betty) Budensiek of Lake City, MN; daughter, Linda (Dave) Webb of Urbandale, IA; son Bryan (Sue) Budensiek of Knoxville, TN; step-daughter, Claudia (Karl) Borgeson; step-son, John M. (Sharon) Sobczak; thirteen grandchildren; many many great-grandchildren; and sister, Bonnie Sharlow of Rochester, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Howard Budensiek and John Sobczak; grandchildren, Wendy and Tony Budensiek; sisters, Raeburn Kuschel, Merle Montrose and Marilyn Curran; and brother, Virgil Banick.
Visitation will be at McLaren’s Resthaven Funeral Chapel on Monday, December 8 at 10 a.m., with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
