

Frank was born April 6, 1953, to Robert and Bernadette Wilcox. He was raised in Carlisle, Iowa and graduated from Carlisle High School. In August 1972 he joined the Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam War in Okinawa Japan. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sargent in 1978.
Frank had numerous skills including welding, machinist, locksmith and especially enjoyed working on cars or anything with an engine. He had a special affinity for motorcycles, his favorite being a 1947 Harley Knucklehead. Frank retired from West Des Moines Community Schools after 20 years in building maintenance.
Frank’s greatest joy was family. He is survived by his wife, Sheila, younger brothers John Wilcox (Diane) of Grimes, Bill Wilcox (Beth) of Carlisle, Robert Wilcox (Jaci) of Des Moines. Daughter Krista Sheriff (Philip) of Clive, stepchildren Jason Hall of Ankeny, Rebecca Hall (Jeff Promo) of Ankeny, Daniel Hall (Heidi) of Granger and Bradley Hall (Malorie) of Johnston; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Frank loved deeply but quietly. He had an exterior of steel and a heart of gold. If you were his friend, it was for life. If you were family, you were cherished.
A memorial service will be held for Frank on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 11:00 AM till 12:00 PM at McLaren's Chapel, 801 19th Street, West Des Moines, IA 50265. A burial service will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, 3741 S Orilla Rd., Cumming, IA 50061.
