Gary was born May 26, 1942, in San Diego, California, and died at the age of 81 on August 13, 2023, at his home in Des Moines, Iowa. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Resthaven Cemetery.
He married Debbie in September 1972 and enjoyed 50 years of marriage. Gary enjoyed listening to George Jones and loved his pets. He enjoyed watching NASCAR with his friend and sidekick, Alan Cooney, and watching his favorite local late model driver, #30 Todd Cooney. Gary retired from the Des Moines Police Department in 1972.
Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie of Des Moines; son, Tom Mann of Beaverdale and David (Julie) Mann of Keokuk; daughters, Debra (Jim) Donahoo of Prairie City and Melodie (Albert) Lewis of Prairie City; and sister, Vicki (Bob) Anthofer of Pleasant Hill; sister-in-law, Louella Ochoa (Roger) of Des Moines.
